This is Cedarvale Health Retreat sharing Health Hope and Happiness. ----------- Did you know that the recipe for a good sleep doesn’t start at night? That’s right, it actually starts in the morning! First, you’ll need some bright morning sunlight in your eyes. This sets your body clock and triggers serotonin production which makes you feel great. At night, serotonin gets converted to melatonin which helps you sleep. Next, you’ll need physical activity. This relieves stress, helps you relax, and promotes more deep sleep. It also increases brain adenosine levels which increases sleepiness at night. Adenosine receptors are blocked by caffeine, making you feel alert, so it’s good to avoid caffeine. Finally, you’ll need a good evening routine. Avoid eating late. Make your sleeping environment comfortable. Eliminate bright lights and screen time an hour before bed. Have a regular bedtime, well before midnight.
